Forum Politicum is an editorial guide to the questions shaping Britain. We help readers understand a disagreement before deciding where they stand.
Both sides, in good faith.
Every debate begins with a defined question and its jurisdiction. We make the strongest reasonable case for and against, including the values and trade-offs behind each position. We give both sides comparable space, use the same tone and ask what evidence might change either view.
Balance does not mean pretending that all factual claims are equally supported. We distinguish an observed result from a modelled forecast, a political promise from a legal change, and a moral judgement from something a study can establish. Where evidence is weak or contested, we say so.
How we choose evidence
- Start with legislation, official statistics, parliamentary briefings and original research. Link to the source and record its date.
- Give numbers their context: place, time period, population and limitations. Avoid presenting a trial of willing participants as proof of a nationwide result.
- Identify institutional interests. A government announcement, campaign-backed trial or industry forecast deserves context even when it is a primary source.
- Keep the question specific. “Should it happen?” depends on how it would work, what it would cost and which alternatives are available.
What this publication is
An editor-led reading room, not an open forum. Readers cannot publish posts, comments, uploads or messages here. The only public contribution is to an aggregate vote total. We do not rank arguments by popularity or let a poll decide which facts are true.
Our launch edition uses AI-assisted research and drafting, checked against the cited material. This can still miss context or make mistakes; the sources and correction process are there so the work can be challenged. We do not present generated text as a quotation or invent experts, endorsements or reader statistics.
No party line
We do not ask readers how they vote in elections, build political profiles or recommend a party. The editorial aim is to make disagreement intelligible. A topic’s inclusion, a source link or a position in the “For” column is not an endorsement.
This MVP carries no advertising, paid placements or affiliate links. Any future sponsorship must be disclosed and kept separate from editorial decisions.
Correct the record
If you find a factual error, missing qualification or unfair account of an argument, send the page address, the exact passage, what you think needs to change and a primary source that supports it. Please do not include sensitive personal details.
We assess the evidence, revisit both sides and amend the page where warranted. A material factual correction will receive a dated note explaining what changed. Routine spelling or formatting edits do not require a correction note. The last-updated date reflects substantive review; it is not a promise that every linked source has changed.
